Artist: Jim Hannan
Growing up on the east coast of Florida, I devloped a passion for the ocean. I spent most of my childhood at the beach surfing or just spending time in the water, eventually becoming an accomplished waterman. Art also has been a passion since my early days, handed down to me from my mother's side of the family. As long as I can remember I've been involved in some aspect of art, and it only seemed natural to me to combine both of these passions.
I am a self taught artist, and have experience painting with watercolors and acrylics. It was only after working in the surfboard industry that I learned enough about resin and fiberglass to utilize it to create paintings of my impressions of the ocean.
Every painting with this unique medium shows me new and exciting aspects about using resin and fiberglass, and I am always learning and developing new techniques. The ocean is in constant motion, and I think that the unique look and textures of my resin and fiberglass paintings are perfect for illustrating that constant motion.
